Master's in Sustainability with a Specialization in Ecological Economics

Our core faculty teaches at UAB Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability. We teach the courses in the Ecological Economics direction, including a course on Foundations of Ecological Economics (van den Bergh, Villamayor-Tomas) and Political Ecology (Kallis, Anguelovski, Villamayor). Master's in Political Ecology, Degrowth and Environmental Justice

Several of our core faculty and post-doc researchers teach in this professional masters on political ecology where we share our expertise on the theory of degrowth and the study of environmental conflicts and justice. You can get courses on degrowth and economics (Kallis), introduction to degrowth (Sekulova, Demaria), urban environmental justice (Anguelovski, Cole, Connoly), global environmental justice (Martinez-Alier), Commons (Varvarousis), and many other course on political ecology that ex-members of our group teach.

This is a professional masters directed to skills development, and you will learn both how to apply analytical methods such as material flow analysis and multi-criteria analysis, as well as how to set up a cooperative, publish in a newspaper, or facilitate a collective process. PhD in Environmental Science and Technology

Our PhD program on environmental science and technology has hosted over the years several researchers developing work on ecological economics, political ecology and global and urban environmental justice. You can find the formal requirements by clicking here.

Generally before applying we strongly recommend writing to one of our core faculty members and interrogating whether they would be interested to supervise your research. We tend to support only students that can secure funding through one of the Catalan or Spanish scholarship schemes (or an equivalent national scheme).
